ABOUT THE MATERIALS WE USE
At Lush Woodcraft we specialize in reclaimed wood furniture. Most of our lumber is recycled from Canadian barns and buildings that are at the end of their life span. The old growth lumber from these barns is typically over 150 years old giving it the kind of character that only time can create. Rather than ending up in a bonfire or at the landfill, we breathe new life into the wood, creating timeless pieces for generations to enjoy. Our lumber is carefully selected, cleaned and kiln dried, so that each piece of furniture is of the highest quality.
We source our steel from a local Canadian company. All of our welding is completed in-house, allowing us to customize any item.
We can make any project out of any wood you can imagine, just send us a message and we will send you a quote.
TYPES OF WOOD
We LOVE that we specialize in reclaimed & salvaged live edge wood. Environmental sustainability is something we take very seriously. We can use any kind of wood that is local to Ontario, ensuring that it is sourced responsibly.

Lush Woodcraft uses reclaimed wood from old barns and buildings in Ontario. We use this wood to create unique, one-of-a-kind custom furniture. Due to the nature of reclaimed wood, all of our products vary greatly in character, texture and colour. Each and every piece of wood tells it's own story through dents, nail holes, nails, cracks, worm holes, knots, axe cuts, saw marks and the like.

Our live edge furniture is typically made with either one or two live edge slabs. These slabs are a complete cross section of the tree with the outside bark edges still intact. Like a snow-flake, no two pieces are ever the same and the live edges can vary significantly. Depending on the size, we will either find a single slab that fits the size/style required or use two slabs from the same log and glue them together so that the grain matches up.

Our standard options for hardwood include Maple, Walnut, and Wormy Maple. We also have access to other hardwoods such as Hard Maple, Elm, Cherry, Ash and more. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please contact us. All of our hardwoods are locally sourced through arborists, private sales, and sawmills. As Ontario Wood partners, if we purchase wood from a sawmill, we ensure that for every tree that gets cut down, 3 new ones are planted.

WOOD FINISHES
We take pride in the way we finish our products. Every product is coated with a commercial grade finish and it really sets us apart in the woodworking world. The finish is really where the wood starts to come to life.

Epoxy is a finish that we recommend when opting for furniture made out of reclaimed wood. When epoxy is applied to rough surfaces, it can find it's way into crevices that our standard finish can not. This is ideal when it comes to reclaimed wood so that the history of the wood can be preserved in the most optimal of ways.
Our signature Matte Epoxy Finish is a thicker finish that is poured onto the wood in layers and fills in any cracks or holes making it ideal for reclaimed and live edge wood. The epoxy is a very hard and durable finish that completely seals the wood and prevents warping and cracking.
Environmentally friendly, with no VOC's, making it the ideal choice for any furniture.

Our Matte Urethane finish is a commercial grade urethane that is sprayed onto the wood in a state of the art finishing facility. It provides a hard protective coat that is impervious to water, alcohol, moisture and UV light. With the urethane finish, you will be able feel the natural texture, grain, and character of the wood surface. It is extremely durable and is ideal for protection on dining tables, coffee tables and other furniture.

METAL FINISHES
We use locally sourced steel and offer a huge variety of options. All of our steel bases are welded in-house at Lush Woodcraft allowing us to offer an enormous range of custom options.

The clear coat protects the steel from oxidizing, while providing the industrial look.

We can paint the steel to any colour you choose, so it can protect the steel from oxidization, but provide a clean, modern look to your item.

Powder coating is a top of the line finish. Through sandblasting & powder coating, you can make steel rust-proof. This is an ideal metal finish for furniture in high traffic areas or for outdoor purposes.
